Worldcoin Audit Report: Relief For Customers To Access Secure Network

Worldcoin’s data acquisition procedure is in question for a very long. In spite of all the issues, Protocol for Humanity's Proof On July 28, Worldcoin issued its audit results as a Proof of Humanity. These reports were produced after proper audit procedures have been followed by the Security consultancy firms Nethermind and Least Authority.

Nethermind discovered 26 security flaws in the protocol, of which 24 were "identified as fixed" during the verification phase, one was mitigated, and two others were acknowledged, according to a Worldcoin release that was published with the findings.

Three problems were identified by Least Authority, and six recommendations were made; all of these problems "have been resolved or have planned resolutions," according to the release.

The choice made by Worldcoin to hire a third-party security audit shows the efforts made by the company for giving its consumers access to a secure network. The assessments, produced by top cybersecurity companies with experience in blockchain technology, cover a wide variety of topics, including smart contract evaluations, vulnerability scans, penetration testing, and general code inspections.

The new audit reports address a broad range of security issues, such as DDoS attack resistance, case-specific implementation mistakes, key storage and correct management of encryption and signing of keys, data leakage, and information integrity, among others. Some problems were discovered as a result of dependence on Semaphore and Ethereum, such as "elliptic curve precompile support or Poseidon hash function configuration," the statement said.

With the exception of one, all problems have been resolved, have been mitigated, or are scheduled for resolution. One security flaw that had not been resolved at the time of verification had a severity of "undetermined" and is marked as "acknowledged." Now, the question is whether Worldcoin will be able to able to resolve all the existing security flaws. If yes, then people will be able to trust them again, Worlcoin has already provided relief to the people by hiring a third-party auditor and releasing the audit reports despite the security concerns going around. But, if Worldcoin fails to resolve all the security issues, it will end up losing users.

Dissenting Opinions: Questioning the Legality of Worldcoin

After nearly two years of development and beta testing, Worldcoin had its public debut on July 25. But soon after, criticism about it started to spread. According to reports, the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) was debating whether to launch an investigation against the initiative for allegedly breaking the nation's data protection regulations. The legitimacy of Worldcoin was also questioned by the French data protection regulator CNIL.

Some members of the crypto community believed that the project's introduction signaled the beginning of a dismal future in which privacy would be completely destroyed. Others, however, believed it to be a crucial step in defending people against bad AIs.

Still, there are dissenting opinions of people on Worldcoin security, but after the audit reports have been realized, it can be considered, that they will take more steps to satisfy their customers and fix all the security issues.
