NASA Plans to Verify Lunar Landings Using Blockchain

Key Takeaways
  • NASA and its partners Florida-based computing startups Lonestar and Isle of Man will send a payload containing data cubes to the moon in February 2024.
  • Due to the immutable nature of the blockchain, any astronauts landing on the Moon in the future can access the data cubes on the Moon.
  • The astronauts' conversations can be verified through the blockchain and apparently, at the time of the next moon landing, the principles can be understood immediately.

NASA Plans to Verify

Now NASA will use blockchain for its moon mission

The United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and its partners Lonestar, a Florida-based computing startup, and Isle of Man will send a payload containing data cubes to the Moon in February 2024. The data secured in these cubes will be verified back on Earth using blockchain technology. If everything goes according to plan, blockchain technology will once again revolutionize everyone and irreversibly, when NASA launches its second crewed mission, Artemis 3, in 2025, humans will have landed on the Moon.

NASA's Artemis mission is set to enter its second phase with the launch of Artemis 2 in November 2024. In this mission, four astronauts will leave Earth and make an orbit around the Moon and then return to Earth. It is not a mission to touch lunar soil, but the U.S. Artemis 2 is being considered by the government as the final test before returning humans to the lunar surface with Artemis 3.As one of several scientific missions taking place during Artemis voyages, Lonestar and the Isle of Man are collaborating to advance long-term lunar storage systems that will rely on solar energy and require no infrastructure to install. Will not happen.

According to a report by BBC's Science Focus, the test will involve the creation of digital stamps. This is a technique called digital franking. Which will be stored in data cubes on the Moon. Once verified, the data will be verified through the blockchain on Earth to ensure that the data is complete and tamper-proof.Due to the immutable nature of the blockchain, any astronauts landing on the Moon in the future could use the data cubes to essentially check in on the Moon. The astronauts' conversations can be verified through the blockchain and, apparently, the principles can be understood immediately when the next moon landing takes place.
