Vietnam is reeling from the devastating impact of Typhoon Yagi, the strongest storm to hit Southeast Asia this year. As of September 13, over 250 lives have been lost, with more than 820 people injured, and 82 still missing.
To support the victims of this tragic disaster, leading crypto exchanges Binance and KuCoin have stepped forward, pledging to airdrop cryptocurrency tokens to affected users in Vietnam. Binance will begin distributing donations on September 16, while KuCoin will start its efforts on September 18.
Both Binance and KuCoin, well-known cryptocurrency exchanges, have committed to providing financial aid through token donations. These companies aim to help individuals in the hardest-hit areas of northern Vietnam by utilizing crypto airdrop, a fast and efficient way to deliver assistance in times of crisis.
Binance, through its charity arm, has pledged $1 million in Binance (BNB) tokens. Meanwhile, KuCoin has committed to airdropping 10,000 KuCoin Shares (KCS) tokens, worth around $80,000, to support the relief efforts. These airdrops will ensure that users in typhoon-affected regions get much-needed financial support.
Binance, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges globally, is at the forefront of these relief efforts. The exchange has committed to sending $50 in BNB tokens to users who had verified their address in the affected areas before September 10. Those who missed the registration deadline will still receive $20 in tokens if they complete their proof-of-address by September 30.
KuCoin, another major player in the crypto space, will airdrop $20 worth of KCS tokens to eligible users in Vietnam. The exchange will use its access logs to identify users in the impacted areas who have completed certain Know Your Customer (KYC) verification steps and made transactions between August 1 and September 12.
These airdrop donations can provide immediate relief to those affected by Typhoon Yagi. The ability to transfer funds quickly and securely through cryptocurrency makes it an effective tool in crisis situations.
Crypto donations offer the advantage of cross-border, instant transfers, ensuring that help reaches those in need without delays commonly associated with traditional financial systems.
Binance and KuCoin’s quick response to Typhoon Yagi demonstrates the power of cryptocurrency in providing real-time aid during emergencies. By leveraging blockchain technology, these exchanges are bringing financial relief to those most impacted, proving that crypto donations are an efficient and effective tool in global humanitarian efforts.
