Horizen is a zero-knowledge blockchain network supported by the industry's biggest node infrastructure. The Zendoo protocol, which utilizes SNARK-verification and provides for total freedom in sidechain type, consensus, speed, and privacy, enables blockchain interoperability. Cryptographic verification of networked chains provides huge scalability, and the network now supports up to 10,000 side chains with a processing limit of 10,000,000 TPS.
Zendoo transforms Horizen into a permissionless blockchain network. Developers can use a number of SDKs to deploy their blockchains inside the ecosystem. The initial pair of SDKs, Blaze and Latus, implement blockchains based on IOHK's verifiably secure Ouroboros proof-of-stake algorithm. Blaze provides high-speed chains that declare their own certifiers and may operate at up to 1,000 TPS, whereas Latus provides complete decentralisation through recursive SNARK composition. The next set of SDKs will offer EVM support for Ethereum smart contract compatibility.
The native cryptocurrency of Horizen, ZEN, is a mineable proof-of-work coin that is now traded on significant platforms including Coinbase, Bittrex, and Binance.
Horizen was founded by Rob Viglione and Rolf Versluis. Dr. Rob Viglione is the co-founder, CEO, and team leader of both the Zen Blockchain Foundation as well as Horizen Labs. The Zen Blockchain Foundation's co-founder along with executive advisor is Rolf Versluis.
