Radicle (RAD) is an open-source protocol that lets developers work together in a decentralised, peer-to-peer way. Developers can work together to code and build DApps on it, just like they can on centralised platforms like GitHub and GitLab. Radicle Link, its peer-to-peer replication protocol, makes this possible.

Radicle Link is just as efficient as Git, but its peer-to-peer networking layer lets it store global, decentralised data repositories. Users can "gossip" information, which means they keep multiple copies of it on their computers and share the information on their own computers with the network. Users can also fund and manage software projects that were started by other people. Radicle calls this kind of collaboration "bazaar-style" because users host their own content and other content they find interesting.

In November 2020, the beta version of Radicle came out, and it worked on both MacOS and Linux. In February 2021, Radicle released an integration with Ethereum that included the smart contract system, the token, and protocol governance through the Radicle DAO.

Monadic, a software company in Berlin that works on open-source software collaboration, made Radicle. Monadic makes it clear that Radicle is not owned by the company and that it is an open-source project that anyone can use, change, and add to. Even though Monadic was started in 2017, work on Radicle didn't start until 2018. Alexis Sellier and Eleftherios Diakomichalis are in charge of Monadic.
