Gutter Cat Gang NFT Project Hit: Over $765K Stolen in SIM Swap Attack

A reported SIM swap attack on the Gutter Cat Gang NFT project resulted in over $765,000 worth of nonfungible tokens being stolen. Hackers compromised the project's official Twitter accounts and shared fake links to limited edition NFT sneaker airdrops. Clicking on these links drained victims' wallets. The attack may have been facilitated by the team's use of SMS 2FA. Two victims lost a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT worth $65,913 and $700,000 worth of NFTs from various collections. Gutter Cat Gang co-founder @gutterdan_ confirmed the hack and mentioned working with Twitter and law enforcement to investigate. The compromised accounts are yet to be recovered.
