Crypto.com Seeks Court Intervention After $50K Mistakenly Deposited

Cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com has taken legal action in a Florida court seeking confirmation of a judgment after mistakenly depositing $50,000 into a user's account. The user swiftly moved the funds to an external bank account and disregarded requests for their return. An arbitrator ruled in favor of Crypto.com, granting them $76,391.46, which included the original amount, interest, attorneys' fees, and arbitration costs. However, the arbitrator lacked the authority to compel the user to pay. Consequently, Crypto.com has turned to a federal court for assistance. This incident bears resemblance to a previous case in Australia where Crypto.com accidentally sent over $6 million to users who allegedly spent the funds, leading to theft charges.
