In a major move to enhance Ethereum scaling, the Swell Network Layer 2 solution, Swell L2, is migrating to the Optimism Superchain. The transition establishes Swell L2 as an Optimistic Rollup powered by the OP Stack, Optimism’s open-source codebase.
By joining the Superchain, Swell will benefit from shared infrastructure with notable partners like Coinbase’s Base, Uniswap’s Unichain, and Sony’s Soneium, collectively fostering a seamless network of chains that all share standards and security.
This alignment with Ethereum’s vision highlights Swell L2’s dedication to promoting scalability, openness, and a streamlined DeFi experience.
One of the standout elements of this migration is Swell L2’s introduction of a unique Proof of Restake (PoR) mechanism, a feature designed to provide a yield and security layer for the Superchain.
This PoR mechanism will allow users to restake assets, maximizing capital efficiency and enhancing security and liquidity across the Superchain. As a restaking hub, Swell L2 will drive a self-sustaining ecosystem where liquidity and growth continuously feed into each other.
To meet the Superchain’s requirements, Swell L2 will make minor adjustments, including using ETH as the gas token and allocating a portion of sequencer revenue to the Optimism Collective, further contributing to ecosystem development.
As part of this strategic shift, Swell L2 will move away from the Polygon CDK, though Swell Network remains committed to supporting Polygon’s broader ecosystem.
Swell Founder Daniel Dizon expressed enthusiasm for the migration, citing the Superchain as home to top DeFi projects. By leveraging Optimism’s infrastructure, Swell Network aims to make Swell L2 the primary platform for restaking within the Superchain.
Additionally, Swell Network airdrop announcements and updates will be shared with the community on the Swell Network Telegram and Swell Network Telegram Bot, where details on the Swell airdrop listing date and swell token pre-market access are expected soon. Users can stay connected for announcements on Swell Network Airdrop and new features via the Swell Network Telegram channel.
Optimism Partnerships Lead Mark Gerhart praised the integration, emphasizing Swell’s potential for mutual growth. An upcoming testnet release will allow the community to experience the advanced restaking functionality of Swell L2. This significant move positions Swell Network as a core player in Ethereum’s evolving scaling landscape, fostering interoperability, efficiency, and new opportunities within the Superchain.
