OverProtocol, a new Layer 1 blockchain, has successfully launched its mainnet on September 4th. 

The project is designed to provide an accessible platform for users to engage in innovative peer-to-peer financial systems without needing specialized knowledge. Superblock, the core development team behind OverProtocol, has secured $8 million in funding to enhance the blockchain's performance through node optimization and build a comprehensive ecosystem that reduces entry barriers for everyday users.

To celebrate the launch, OverProtocol will partner with top crypto industry firms GSR and Jambo to host “HangOver” on September 5th, a major event during KBW 2024, Korea’s leading cryptocurrency conference.

Before the mainnet debut, OverProtocol conducted two testnets, drawing over 700,000 participants who took part in Palm Staking via the OverWallet app, which facilitates mobile crypto staking. Additionally, more than 40,000 users operated OverNode, a lightweight client, on their personal computers as validators in the network through Home Staking.

Post-mainnet activation, key ecosystem apps OverFlex and OverScape will receive updates by the end of September. OverFlex, which integrates OverWallet with a marketplace for Real-World Assets (RWA), will play a crucial role in OverProtocol’s mission. OverScape, the revamped version of OverNode, represents the beginning of a new era of decentralized internet and finance, similar to how the Netscape browser transformed internet access.

Moreover, a major airdrop is planned for after the updates in September. Ben (Jae-Yun) Kim, OverProtocol's founder, announced that the airdrop will reward community members who have supported the ecosystem over the past year. This will be followed by various community events aimed at making blockchain technology accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
