Crypto scam happened in Central African Republic

Police in the Central African Republic suspect foul play after the operators of a crypto firm disappeared overnight. The Research and Investigation Section (SRI) has investigated the firm Clé du Succès. The prosecutor says that the operators of the firm have taken all the money of the investors and disappeared without any information. However, the country's Finance Ministry has also confirmed that the Clé du Succès company has registered the company and was also issued a tax identification number.

The company had collected investments from hundreds of CAR residents. Also, the company had promised its customers that they could earn up to 20% profit on their investment. On this, some investors had handed over their life savings to Clé du Succès. The company began operations in Bangui in September 2023 and attracted hundreds of Central Africans but following rumours of an attack on October 8, the firm's operators disappeared overnight without any information. Besides, the operators of the firm have also taken all the money of the investors with them. The company office has been closed for almost a week due to which both the company's employees and customers are in deep uncertainty. The incident is believed to have caused damage amounting to one billion CFA francs, approximately $1.6 million.

High-profile personalities have also become victims of crypto scam

Local media outlets have claimed that big personalities of the country have also become victims of this crypto scam. Clé du Succès's long list of investors includes many lawmakers, senior civil servants, traders, and craftspeople.  However, there is no trace of the company operators yet. Last year, the CAR government announced that it would follow in the footsteps of El Salvador and adopt BTC and other coins as legal tender. However, in view of the dangers of cryptocurrency, the country's Parliament repealed the same law in less than a year. Due to such incidents, there is now a demand for crypto regulation in the country.
